Long before the pub tradition began in Ireland there were the Crossroads. Neighboring communities would meet between towns and villages to socialize and exchange news. For the young people the meetings led to dances and entertainment – the forerunner of Riverdance. Meeting at the crossroads and the gathering of the clan is one of the characteristics of Irish culture that remains today. Although the crossroads today extend into local pubs and cafes, there is nothing like stopping to chat with friends and neighbors while waiting for the sheep to round the bend.
Opened in 1999, "Irish Crossroads Gift Shop" captures the magic of the traditional Irish town. We welcome you to stop in and enjoy a fresh brewed cup of Irish Tea and share the news of the Cleveland Irish community. We’ll extend the hospitality you’d find in Irish homes – you can’t just drop in and say hello; you must sit and chat for awhile, enjoying a slice of brown bread with a cup in the hand.
